Fill In The Blank

The Bible is very specific about salvation. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he came to be the sacrifice that forgives everyone's sins. That's it. Pretty simple...except that you actually have to believe it in your heart and not just say it with your mouth.

But there is so much more teaching there that IS important too. Answers to everything that matters in life and instructions on how to focus on those things. If you've never read through the New Testament in particular, you don't know what you are missing.

Having read through it, and especially now that I have committed myself to writing a daily blog about faith, I didn't realize just how important spending some time each day reading the Bible had become. For the past two days I've allowed life to win and have neglected to do my reading, so when it came time to write a blog post...I came up blank!

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your strength and all your mind."

That begins with believing, but that is only the beginning. Like any relationship it takes an investment on both parts to make it work. Luckily for us, God doesn't play hard to get!

I need my daily reading to keep me grounded and my mind in the right place. Lesson learned...
