Rocky Balboa is one of my favorite movie characters ever. Remember me writing about the cast-offs and the underdogs? The Italian Stallion had those in spades. He lived in a ratty apartment with this two turtles...cuff and link. The world had labeled him a bum.
And then the miraculous happened. The champ in his desire to be a spectacle offered Rocky the chance to fight him on Independence Day. Rocky had no chance, but someone forgot to tell him. He took a beating that left his face look like an abstract painting...but he kept picking himself up. He'd get knocked down again and again, but to the disbelief of everyone continued to get back up and fight on.
We have to do the same. There are going to be rough times. Times when the world is beating us up pretty good. We're going to make poor decisions at times and the consequences will be costly. But we have to continue to pick ourselves up and fight on, because with God nothing is impossible.
I'll leave you with this verse on why it's important to keep going and to keep relying on God for our needs:
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” -- 1 John 5:14-15
