Breaking Bread

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. -- Revelation 3:20 (NLT)

One of my favorite activities is to have dinner and hang out with people I care about. Meals are just more fun when you have good company to go along with good food, aren't they? There is always lots of smiles and laughter...it's a time of joy and contentment. I suppose you could say that it just feels right.

Looking at the verse from Revelation, it seems like Jesus is telling us that He is meant to be a part of all of those occasions and, even more so, wants to be our company even when nobody else is around. He wants to laugh with us when have a good time and also wants us to put our heads on His shoulder when we need one to cry upon.

Even if He's been to our house before but we've told Him to go home, He keeps coming back and knocking at the door...wanting desperately to be invited in. Jesus wants to be the VIP guest to the rest of our lives.

So remember the next time you want to have a get together, or when you feel alone and in the dumps (especially at those times), to answer that knock at the door!
